Tattoo Removal in Mississauga

From the moment a needle deposits ink deep into the skin, the immune system recognizes these particles as foreign intruders, dispatching armies of white blood cells to engulf them. The white blood cells then escort small ink particles to the live, where they are processed and excreted. But many of the ink particles are much larger than white blood cells, which is why new tattoos fade over time, but won’t completely disappear naturally.

Sharplight’s advanced pulsed light technologies provide what is considered one of the most effective methods in the removal of tattoos today. Sharplight’s Q-Switch laser targets the ink of the tattoo and applies localized pulses of light aimed to decompose the tattoo’s pigment clusters. This pulsed light safely passes through the skin’s outer layer and is absorbed by the ink; the light is then converted into heat, which breaks down the ink into much smaller, more manageable particles. The body’s lymphatic system then filters these particles out over several weeks’ time, and as this natural elimination occurs, the tattoo fades and eventually disappears.

When a short nanosecond laser pulse of sufficient peak power hits tissue, a Photo Acoustical process occurs. Laser pulsed energy is rapidly absorbed into the targeted tissue where the tattoo pigment clusters are located, giving rise to a shockwave which then shatters these pigment clusters; something out body is unable to do naturally. The shockwave vibrates through the skin and causes the upper layer of the skin to lift up and appear white or “frosted”. Though mildly uncomfortable, this effect usually last just a few minutes and is actually the desired outcome as a result of the treatment. Shattered pigment fragments are subsequently absorbed by phagocytes resulting in the clearance of the tattoo. 532 nm or 1064 nm wavelength is chosen depending on the colour of the tattoo.

Clients should note that results vary heavily from person to person, tattoo to tattoo. Tattoos that are darker in colour, black and dark blue, tend to react much better to the laser and are removed easier than tattoos with vibrate colors. The ideal tattoo to remove will also be one that is relatively old, significantly faded (due to time or quality), and is not done professionally. Home tattooing kits or “jail house tattoos” will generally not have had the chance to go deep enough into the skin, making it much easier for our technician to remove.
